ABSTRACT The research based on factors influencing the girl child enrollment in schools. The case sh1dy was Rwemamba parish which is located in western Uganda in kashongi subcounty, Nyabushozi County, Kimhura district. The girl child has been totally ignored from time in memorial. . There is a small number of girls enrollment in schools than boys in all districts in Uganda however, this problem is particularly acute in Rwemamba parish. Research objectives were to establish the causes of low enrollment of girls in schools, to examine the causes of poor enrollment of the girl child in schools, to find out the parental attitudes towards the girl child education and to establish strategies put in place by the government to improve on the enrollment of a girl child in schools The research based on a qualitative design of descriptive nature and analytical based on interviews and questionnaires. Primary and secondary data sources were used and a number of data collection tools were employed questions were designed and the investigator administered Head teachers, Teachers and elders who could read and write. Also interviews, observations were used due to illiteracy and the category of the targeted population .. Other sources of data collection include records on Head teachers' offices, inspector of schools offices and district education officer in particular. Rwemamba has been facing a problem of low enrollment of girls in schools which have been caused by:- parental attitudes, traditional division of labor in homes, pove1iy, traditional values and practices, family level of education, early pregnancies, early marriages, psychological and physiological changes and insufficiency of women teachers. Government of Uganda should take position in order to increase a number of girls in schools by making legislation effective, sensitization of parents, setting up vocational schools and introduction of guidance and counseling services in primary schools. It was observed that Rwemamba parish has been facing a senous problem of low enrollment of the girl child in schools.
